A guide at the Gush Etzion Zoo of the Book of Song of Songs explains to Junio Highschool students how to extract the deer horn shell after it dried, and eventually making it into a shofar, on September 15, 2014. The shofar is used mainly on the Rosh Hashanah holiday, the Jewish New Year, and on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It is blown in synagogues to mark the end of the fast at Yom Kippur and on four different occasions in the prayers on Rosh Hashanah which begins on 24 September. Photo by Gershon Elinson/Flash90
