The Malha Arena in Jerusalem hosted the Wheelchair Basketball for the first time on Monday evening. 2,100 spectators present cheered at the event.
Before the game began, the chairman of the Israeli Wheelchair Sport Organization, Danny Ben Abu, as well as Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, spoke of the importance of making the arena accessible to wheelchair-bound athletes.
The arena was made wheelchair-accessible just recently following lobbying from wheelchair-bound athletes and their representatives.
