The suspected abusive mother escorted by border policemen into the district court on April 16, 2008, for her trial that begins today. Since her arrest last month, the mother, who is still in custody, has repeatedly been shown pictures of her children's injuries, but on most of her days in remand, she did not inquire about the children or who was taking care of them, the police said.
