Throughout this summer, ten planes will arrive in Israel carrying new immigrants, called Olim, to the country. Immigrants in these planes will be coming from North America, France, and England. According to the Jewish Agency, in 2006, a total of 24,000 new immigrants are supposed to arrive in Israel from all over the world, compared to 2005, when only 22,657 new immigrants arrived in the country.
It is tradition to kiss Israel's holy ground upon arrival to the country for the first time.
