Special Israeli riot police storm settler hold-outs on a rooftop in Sanur, West Bank on Tuesday, 23 August 2005. Anti-pullout protesters barricaded themselves on the roof, requiring police to get on the roof by using a crane to lift a specially adapted shipping container to gain access. When the police landed on the roof, the sprayed a white powder creating a smoke-like condition, intended to confuse the protesters without harming them.

Israeli settlers throw food at border guards trying to take over the roof after they barricaded themselves on top of a religious school in the northern West Bank settlement of Homesh 23 August 2005. Hundreds of troops moved in to the two settlements of Homesh and Sanur, in an area known by Jews as northern Samaria, the heart of Biblical Israel completing the eviction of 25 Jewish settlements.
