*File 20.1.2003* MK Rabbi Avraham Ravitz passed away overnight Sunday at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Degel Hatorah chairman was hospitalized in serious condition three weeks ago due to heart problems and . His funeral procession to leave his Jerusalem home at 1 pm Monday, Jan 26 2009. He had had served in the Knesset for 21 years, representing UTJ and Degel Hatorah. During that time, he held a number of positions, among them deputy housing minister, deputy education minister, deputy welfare minister and chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee. Prior to his political career he was the head of a yeshiva. He had also served in both the IDF and the pre-independence Lechi organization.
