Asraf was reported missing by his friend Negauker, who said he went into the Arab village of Beit Anun and never came back. Thousands of Israeli soldiers and special security forces were called to the area to search for Asraf who was later found hiding in the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba. The two friends were arrested for giving a false report which got the entire country worried of another terrorist abduction, following last summer's abduction and murder of three Jewish teens in the same area.
