    The White Tower
The White Tower in incant Ramla extends 30 m. It was built upon the order of the Mamaluk Sultan, El Malak el Nasar, a-Din Mahmad, and it was completed in 1318. Apparently it was used as an observation tower. Some researchers believe that in view of its architectural structure (minaret), the tower served as the place where the Muazin would call the Muslim congregants to prayer five times a day. Ramla
Ramla- a city in central Israel. The city is predominantly Jewish with a significant Arab minority. Ramla was founded circa 705–715 AD by the Umayyad Caliph Suleiman ibn Abed al-Malik after the Arab conquest of the region. Ramla lies along the route of the Via Maris, connecting old Cairo (Fustat) with Damascus, at the intersection of the roads connecting the port of Jaffa with Jerusalem. Photo by Yossi Zamir/Flash 90
