Judge Noam Solberg, was a hotly debated candidate for the supreme court as he is a religious-nationalist from Alon Shvut, a Jewish settlement in the West Bank. The Committee for Appointment of Judges convened in a stormy showdown between leftist forces led by Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch and centrist-nJUDGationalists. Beinisch is due to retire in February but is reportedly fighting with all her might to prevent the court from changing its leftist hue. Beinisch is against the appointment of Judge Noam Solber.
